Martin Pincher is my friend and alter ego. I began drawing Martin about ten years ago. Since that time, he’s been inside the lair of an octopus, met an oar fish, sold glimpses at a coelacanth, and solicited a donation from a nudibranch. I draw Martin the old fashioned way: with pencil, and a sharpie. Most of the time, the writing comes first, but occasionally, there is an image, or a character that I want to draw. Usually, they end up having something to say– whether or not it’s funny may be in the eye of the creator.
